The most popular ferry route to Anchorage or Fairbanks Alaska is from Bellingham WA to Haines Alaska.
The ferry makes stops in Ketchikan, in Wrangell, Sitka, Petersburg and Juneau before arriving in Haines Alaska
From Haines the driving distance to Anchorage is approximately 650 miles
There are no ferries between Washington and Anchorage or Washington and Fairbanks.
If one does not have a passport they can ferry from Bellingham to Ketchican, transfer ships and travel Ketchican to Whittier. This avoids the Canadian border and Whittier is a 2 hr drive from Anchorage
The ferries to Whittier commence service in January 2012.
