Ferry passage from Port Hardy to Prince Rupert has become so popular that not only ferry space, but lodging in this city located at the northern end of Hwy 19 on Vancouver Island, is sold out months in advance from May to October.

During the summer months (May–Oct) the 15 hr non-stop Inside Passage cruise from Port Hardy to Prince Rupert departs on alternate days. During the winter months the ferry stops at McLoughlin Bay, Bella Bella, Shearwater & Ocean Falls making the trip to Prince Rupert close to 30 hrs.
