31 Aug 2012 High Winds Cause Sailing Cancellation
FVF Chenega will not sail to Whittier Friday, August 31 due to high wind and seas.
Chenega will sail round-trip from Cordova to Valdez with a 7:30am departure from Cordova.
A 3:30pm departure from Valdez returning to Cordova has been scheduled to allow eastbound passengers ample time to drive to Valdez.
Alaska Marine Highway System (AMHS) staff is contacting affected passengers; for more information, please contact AMHS central reservations office at 1-907-465-3941 or toll-free at 1-800-642-0066.
FVF Chenega will not sail to Whittier Friday, August 31 due to high wind and seas.

Ferry passengers traveling Haines to Skagway with ultimate destinations in the Yukon Territory should be aware that several washouts and mudslides have caused road closures.
Sections of the Alaska and Klondike Highways are currently closed and there is no access from Skagway into the Yukon at this time.

New AMHS Ferry Policy
The Alaska Marine Highway System (AMHS) announced a Port Efficiency Policy to go into effect Friday, June 1, 2012.
As of Friday, June 1, 2012 - Ports of call having no scheduled traffic in or out on any particular day, will be cancelled.
Scheduled traffic is defined as a reservation in place 24 hours in advance of the scheduled departure time from the port in question.
In 2011 the Alaska ferries made 10 port calls where there was no traffic boarding or disembarking the ship. The new policy is designed to manage efficiencies

MV Taku has canceled the revised schedule for today; Tuesday, January 24th due to ongoing mechanical issues.

to accommodate the Haines basketball team connecting from the Inter-Island Ferry
