Dont Get Stuck at the Ferry Terminal

Heavy BC Ferry Traffic
Passenger and vehicle traffic levels for the BC Ferries are the highest the company has ever experienced in the first quarter of a fiscal year.
Virtually every ferry sailing - both mid week & weekend - between Vancouver and Vancouver Island ( both Victoria and Nanaimo) has been sold out.

If planning a trip in either direction from any of the terminals, it is only smart  to take advantage of the optional ferry reservation service.
While it will add approx  $17 to your ticket price, there is nothing worse than sitting at a terminal watching ship after ship depart without you.   $17 then starts to look like a bargain.

    Alaska Ferry Strike Over

Alaska Ferries Being Scheduled to Return to Work
Although there are currently no explicit details, the Juneau office announced this morning that the ferry strike has been settled & that theAlaska ferries will be gin operating as soon as the vessels are restaffed, repositioned & new adjusted schedules are in place.

Because ferries (and occasionally planes,) are often the only method of transportation for both residents and visitors to/from the coastal communities, the stike which began on Wednesday July 24, saw literally thousands of travellers stranded throughout the State.
Fisheries, transport trucks, health officials, RV &car rental companies were all left struggling to find aternate transportation as the strike entered its 7th day.

It is estimated that some 7,000 would be passengers were impacted by the IBU strikers As both sides dug in their heels, the state had, at last count, to refund some 3.1+ million dollars in pre-booked reservations.

Updates will be postedon the www.ferrytravel.com site as soon as they are confirmed
