Alaska Ferry Pricing

Dynamic Pricing On The Alaska Ferries
Dynamic pricing is a system that increases fare prices as available space on any Alaska operated ferry, decreases.
Because of the dynamic pricing system introduced in 2019 by the State, payments, in particular for vehicles over 30', and made on weekends, on holidays or after 5:00 PM Alaska time, may not be able to be processed until the next working day.
Should that happen, ie a price discrepancy occur, the passenger will be contacted either by email or by phone.

Alaska Ferry 2022 Summer Schedules

Summer 2022 Ferry Schedules
The Alaska ferry schedules and fares for travel between October 2021 and September 2022 are now available for booking either on www.ferrytravel.com or through 1-800-686-0446

Please note that due to the dynamic pricing program introduced by the Alaska Marine Highway system, fares change according to the space availability on each specific voyage.
This means that as the availble space on any sailing goes down, the fares go up, so are constantly changing and can not be guaranteed until a booking and full payment is received.

Payments for quoted reservations made on weekends, on holidays or after 4:30 PM Alaska Time are not guaranteed or processed until the next working day.

Barging to Alaska vs Ferrying to Alaska

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A BARGE & A FERRY

BARGES to and from Alaska

• Barges transport vehicles : all sizes, shapes and lengths.
• Barges do not transport any passengers.
• Barges travel between Seattle and most ports in Alaska every week year-round
• Barging a vehicle can often be less expensive than transporting the same vehicle on a ferry
If sending a vehicle to an Alaskan port from Seattle, or from an Alaskan port to Seattle, the trip can take up to 2 weeks and the vehicle owner would need to fly.

FERRIES to & from Alaska:
• Ferries, unlike barges, transport both passengers & vehicles.
• Vehicles on a ferry can be up to 70' long, and as high as 13'.
• A ferry from Washington (Bellingham) to Alaska ( Whittier ) takes  5 days.
Ferries also travel from Bellingham Washington to Haines Alaska but if travelling to or from Haines, be aware that passports are required as travellers will be passing through Canada.
