BC Ferries Sympathetic to Animals

BC Ferries Care

BC Ferries is requesting that vehicle owners consider switching off their auto alarms once on board.
Many passengers on the ferries travel with their pets and ship movement and vibrations not infrequently set off sensitive car alarms.
The alarms continue until the car owner can be found, & is requested to return to the vehicle deck to switch off the alarm.

This often takes time and vehicle alarms are loud, continuous and distressing to not only pets, but to other passengers.

Thanks for your consideration BC Ferries !

MOVING TO or FROM ALASKA ?

FERRY SAILING DATES NOT AVAILABLE ?

Ferries typically depart between Washington & Alaska every week : those ferries avoiding Canada typically sailing once every 2 weeks.
Vehicle space on the Alaska ferries sells out quickly however, and the costs rise (dynamic pricing) as ferry space decreases.
This means that the cost delivered today for a ferry trip in the future, will most definitely change.
Booking space on the desired ferry sailing ASAP once you are sure of your chosen travel date, will secure the lowest price.
(Dynamic pricing which was introduced by the State of Alaska in Oct 2019 has can cause substantial fare increases)
The alternative when moving, is to send ones' vehicle/s by barge.
Barges operate between Seattle & Alaska every week, year-round and are not subject to dynamic pricing so are often much less expensive.
Barges however do not carry passengers - only vehicles.
For cost & schedules go to the Home Page and choose where you want to travel from and to (image to secure info shown below) .

BORDER RESTRICTIONS TO BE RELAXED

AFTER 18 MONTH CLOSURE US LAND BORDER TO OPEN TO CANADIANS
It is anticipated that in early November 2021, the US will open their borders to vaccinated visitors.
Vaccines approved by the World Health Organization and US Drug and Food Administration will be accepted.

Note however that there is still some question as to whether those who received a mixed course of vaccines, i.e. one dose of AstraZeneca & one of Moderna would be considered fully vaccinated for travel purposes. Good to check with customs prior to starting out.

As part of the standard US Customs and Border Protection admissions process, travellers entering the US by vehicle, rail or ferry will be asked about their vaccination status.
No testing will be required to enter the U.S. by land or sea, provided the travellers meet the vaccination requirement.

Other than for essential purposes, the land border between the US and Canada has been closed to Canadians since the pandemic was declared in March 2020.
Air Travel to the US however has been open to travellers from Canada since the beginning of the pandemic.
Canada opened its border to Americans crossing to Canada in August of 2021

For more information on using either a ferry or barge between Washington and Alaska go to www.ferrytravel.com ( stay on the Home Page and use the Quote booking Engine to secure the costs of either the ferries or barges

Ferry Service between Seattle & Victoria Suspended

SEATTLE - VICTORIA FERRY SERVICE CANCELLED

As of October 12, 2021 all ferry service between Seattle & Victoria has been suspended.

Decreased ridership resulting from both the late summer Delta variant surge and the PCR testing restrictions have made operating the Seattle - Victoria ferry route financially impractical at this time.

It is hoped that ferry service will begin again sometime during the Spring of 2022.
